Crossroads for string quartet (2016)

Instrumentation:

Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello

Duration: ca. 8’

About the piece:

Crossroads explores the use of free sections together with notated music. People make decisions at crossroads; and in this piece I want the performers to make decisions on how and what they should play at specific sections indicated in the score. This piece has three main sections and in each section I explored different elements of music (for example: evolving harmonies in the first; rhythm and texture in the second; and timbre in the third). The first and last notated sections have free sections based on their material, while the middle section stands on its own.
