Switch for oboe, percussion and piano (2017)

Instrumentation:

Oboe, Percussion, Piano

Duration: ca. 7’

About the piece:

Switch explores the use of alternation in the music, as well as transformation of musical ideas. From a broad level, the music alternates between fast and slow sections, while on a smaller scale the harmonic material alternates between two intervals. In the fast sections, I wanted to create an energetic and driving mood, while also slowing down and picking up speed occasionally. The middle section is rather free and I wanted to explore the effect of 2 or 3 individual lines playing at the same time, but not exactly coordinating with each other.
